A medal from the Conference of German Bishops for the 1250 Anniversary Celebration of the martyrdom of Saint Boniface. The Latin caption reads "But we preach Christ crucified." (First Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 1, Verse 23)It shows symbolically how Boniface held the Scriptures over his head to fend off the blows of his attackers. When Boniface' body was sent to Fulda for burial the book was retrieved and sent along, where it can still be seen, cut and stained with his blood.
